How can introvert
nail an
interview?
As an introvert,
you may find the interview nerve-wracking. You find the situation more dreadful
than it is. The thought of being interviewed alone will make you anxious as you
know that the limelight will be turned squarely on you.
Following
tricks will help you out in getting through the process and you will enjoy the
experience:
Find out all the details about
the interview:
Do research
about the company and find out about the CEO of the company, products and
services, work culture, vision and mission, polices and regulations, etc. Try
to find out the information about the place and time of interview, details of the HR,
placement rounds (i.e. HR interview, technical interview, etc.). Pertaining the
prior knowledge about the company and the details of the interview will reduce
your stress and strengthen your confidence.
Practice answers to potential interview questions:
List out the potential interview questions that can be
probably asked by the interviewer. Prepare answers to these questions and study
them. This will prevent you from going blank in front of interviewer and will
assist you in answering the questions in much better way in the actual
interview.
Get familiar with your resume:
Go through your resume and
remind yourself about your work accomplishments, experiences, projects,
strengths, weaknesses, etc. This will make you comfortable in bragging about
yourself. Also, it will remind you of the
ultimate purpose of the interview: to build a rapport with the HR so
that you can crack the job interview successfully.
Dress up:
Make sure that
you are comfortable with the clothes you are wearing. Uncomfortable clothes
make worry you and distract you. This will make you appear nervous in front of
the HR.
Plan your schedule for the day:
Allot the time properly to all
the tasks you are going to perform in the day. Manage your time in such a way
that you can reach 30 minutes or an hour before the interview. Give yourself
some time to gather your thoughts and get settled properly. This will save your
time and ensures you’ll have maximum energy during the interview.
Utilize your listening skills and pay attention to the
body language and nature of the interviewer and react accordingly. If you take
your cues from the interviewer, you’re sure to hit the proper note. If the
interviewer uses gestures while conversing, be comfortable in expressing your
opinions with the hand gestures.
Feel free in
mentioning yourself as an introvert:
Never feel shy in mentioning yourself as an introvert.
Even the interviewer might be an introvert. Instead highlight the positive
aspects of your introverted nature and make impactful contribution.
Leave on a high note:
Say something
positive and then leave. Make a graceful exit. Flash a big smile and thank
the interviewer for this opportunity and give a firm handshake.
BEST OF LUCK FOR THE BIG INTERVIEW!
