Why the HR takes first round of interview?

Why the HR takes first round of interview?

Recruitment

HR reflects the image of the company and the people working in it. Effective utilization of manpower is the key for success of any industry. To recruit a right man on right job is one of the key activity of personnel management. Henceforth, screening interviews with human resources professionals are a crucial step to get the job. A good or bad interview with HR will determine how far you go in the interviewing process. There are several reasons for the HR to conduct the interview before the technical interview. Here’s some reasons why HR takes the first round.

HR analyses whether the candidate, who has cracked previous rounds, matches the job profile or not. He examines if the candidate have set marks for all questions asked. He checks, if the candidate can be an asset or a liability to the organization.

The HR personnel wants to assess your psychological factor and determines the level of interest of the candidate to join the organization. Therefore, to assess the psychology of candidates questions relating to personal background, social background etc. of the candidate are asked by the HR professional.

RecruitmentHR does initial screening to know if the resume they have short-listed is at par with the candidate. It also helps in knowing the monetary expectations of the candidate. Depending upon company’s budget, HR can decide whether to take the candidate further or not.

HR round is conducted at the initial stage to scrutinize the candidates properly. In today's business scenario, the most important quality that organizations look for in their employees is how they face challenges and try to cope up with difficult situations. HR has the skill to judge the person whether he gets demotivated due to the work pressure or he can handle tough situations in the organization.

Recruitment
Apart from the above, there are many aspects that an HR judges such as communication skills (if the position demands lots of interactions or discussions), body language, additional skills possessed by the person etc. Thus right candidates are shortlisted for next level.

These aspects are generally not considered by the technical interviewer since his core focus is on technical and work related responsibilities. This information has to be checked prior so that only right candidates are forwarded for further rounds. It thus helps in reducing recruitment cost and time.

A person with the desired qualifications who is a best fit with required experience having all the above parameters along with logical and analytical abilities is sent to next round by the HR as he satisfies the basic requirement for the given post, apart from the technical skills.

RecruitmentTechnical person has sound knowledge about technical work aspect but need not be the same in all the other areas but an HR person need not have complete technical knowledge but must and should have all the other abilities to judge the candidate.

HR professionals may ask questions to confuse you in order to check you for the job. Utilize it as your chance to reiterate your strengths and highlight your applicable skill set and passion for the company. Speak to how your past experiences match the qualifications for the job using keywords from the job description to make the connection stronger. By clearly linking your skills to the position, you are helping the HR manager envision you in the role.

HR managers may ask you about your previous jobs to determine if there are any red flags related to your departure. Are you leaving on good terms or bad? Are you looking to escape from your current job or grow within a new one? Take this opportunity to speak positively of your current employer but communicate that you’re looking at this new position as the next step in your career. By framing your answer positively, you’re making the interviewer focus on your potential contributions rather than any red flags.

Recruitment
If the HR professional asks what you know about the company, then it is a test and you have to pass it. Doing research on a company prior to an interview is a necessity. You need to know the history and makeup of the company, who the key players are, recent accomplishments and mentions in the press, and any other relevant information. Communicate the positive information you learned about the company, from awards to new product launches, to demonstrate your knowledge.

If you are offered to ask questions by the HR, then always have questions for him. This shows your enthusiasm and curiosity to become the part of the organization. This positions yourselves as potentially valuable team member by asking smart, strategic questions that benefits the interviewer as well as you. Sometimes hiring managers will reach out to candidates for a second time to dig deeper and may ask you for personality or competency tests.

8 things to keep in mind while sitting for the interview

8 things to keep in mind while sitting for the interview 1. Make sure that your introduction is impressive: In the interview , most probably the first question asked is usually “Tell me about yourself.” Take 1-2 minutes to answer this question. You should include about your qualifications, past experiences, strengths and interests related to work, etc. Don’t repeat what is already written in the resume. The recruiter wants to hear something apart from that. Your introduction is the first impression on interviewer , therefore it should grab his attention so that he takes interest in whatever you say. If he asks you speak more, then he might be testing your communication skills so you can include about your parents and their profession, siblings and other family members. Also, you can speak more about your professional experience and your style of working. 2. Make use of felicitous verbal communication: Sometimes the interviewer might appear warm and friendly to you

Don’t Boil the Ocean

Don’t Boil the Ocean Though the notion of boiling the ocean is dubious, the business professionals often insist on using this phrase but t he phrase should be used carefully as its meaning in the workplace is quite vague. It is usually used in group settings to focus on an out-of-control situation. Meaning of the phrase: To boil the ocean means to try hard to do or get something. It is the utilization of available resources to the point of detriment. It generally means to go overboard by making a task unnecessarily difficult. Let's see the example: Suppose a fine-tuned organization is conducting a program in which it has invited the guests from all over the world, including the famous entr epreneurs , ministers, clients and other VIPs. It is an extremely important event for the organization for the reason that this program is going to affect its brand image in the society, number of clients , popularity and also it has invested lot of efforts and
