Recently Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has initiated the project called 'Digital India' to make India a digital nation. Also, the emergence of “JIO, Digital Life” has encouraged and supported this mission. The IT sector has also led to massive employment generation in India. Some of the worlds’ highest paying companies for software engineers are Juniper, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Google, Twitter, Apple, Oracle, etc. This was the brief introduction about IT industry.

Now it’s time to explore how job candidates who are invited to an interview can prepare and conduct themselves throughout the multistage interviewing process.

Tip 1: Familiarize yourself with the organization where you’re applying

One must know all the aspects of the organization where you want to work. Research in detail about the organization’s role in the IT industry and its’ sources of income. Extract more about the IT ecosystem and the challenges faced by the company. You can use the website of the company, social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, etc., you can contact the employees, customers, or view reports or news about the organization. This information will help you out in understanding the work culture of the organization and you can determine whether you will be comfortable with that atmosphere or not. If you can adapt with the working conditions, think in what ways you can contribute to the organization. Also, determine the areas in which you can excel. This will benefit in strengthening your answers and will make you confident.

Tip 2: Study about the position for which you’re applying

As soon as you read the job description, you will come to know the position for which the company wants to hire the candidates. While gathering information about the organization (as mentioned in previous tip), you can find out the information specifically with respect to the position for which you are applying. If you have worked for the same position, be prepared to explain what experiences and skills will allow you to contribute and succeed in that context. If you are a fresher, be ready to tell how you will be the best fit. Emphasis more on the skills, the hiring manager expects the candidate to possess. Some job postings use abstract terms like analyst, consultant, etc. In such case, dig beyond the generic description to understand what the hiring manager is actually looking for. This will help you understand the extent to which the position is a good match for you as well as the company.

Tip 3: Work on yourself

Try to remember the skills you learned map to the position’s requirements and note down the essential points. Review the technologies that you may be expected to know, but haven’t used recently. Revise them once so that you don’t tend to forget anything at the interview. If you have sufficient time span and you are serious about the job, go for crash course or short-term course, if possible. Remind yourself of the terminology and key concepts that might come up during interviews. Brush up with those terminologies properly and sharpen your concepts. At the same time, understand your professional strengths and know how to explain them clearly with the context of the specific position for which you are applying. You might be a perfect match for the position, but it is important to make the interviewer realize this fact. For this, you should know how to articulate your learning and experience.

Tip 4: Display Confidence and have a streamlined focus
interview
Hiring managers are looking for a confident person who displays full interest in the role and the organization. Regardless of the position, interviewers hire people who are optimistic, self-confident, energetic, engaging and passionate. Find someone who has served the organization in the past and get to know the work culture and style of work and focus on getting the job. This will help you perform better.

Conclusion:
As we all know, there are numerous candidates who would apply for the same job. The outstanding candidate who makes the difference in the eyes of interviewer gets hired. Therefore, make it out as a person that the employers would look forward to work with. Match the tone of the interviewer and stand out.

Make sure that your introduction is impressive: In the interview , most probably the first question asked is usually “Tell me about yourself.” Take 1-2 minutes to answer this question. You should include about your qualifications, past experiences, strengths and interests related to work, etc. Don’t repeat what is already written in the resume. The recruiter wants to hear something apart from that. Your introduction is the first impression on interviewer , therefore it should grab his attention so that he takes interest in whatever you say. If he asks you speak more, then he might be testing your communication skills so you can include about your parents and their profession, siblings and other family members.
